Police personnel issuing speeding tickets.

Twenty-eight motorists were issued with speeding tickets following a continuous police operation in Kuala Belait yesterday morning.

A speed detector camera was set up along the Mumong bypass yesterday morning to nab speeders.

Vehicles driving to Kuala Belait from Seria along the highway were the target of the operation.

Speeders were stopped by traffic police about few kilometres away from where the speed camera had been set up.

Police personnel from the Belait Traffic Control and Investigation Department were involved in the operation, which ran from 9am until 11.30am.

The offenders were issued with on-the-spot fines. Locals were allowed to settle the penalty within two weeks.

According to the Belait District Traffic Officer, similar operations will be carried out regularly this month to reduce road mishaps in the Belait District.
