A one-hour operation at the Sungai Tujoh border and Jalan Tengah Panaga by Bandar Seri Begawan Department of Investigation and Traffic Control resulted in 14 summonses and eight compounds issued for various traffic violations. The summonses and compounds were issued for traffic offences such as driving with expired licence and road tax and driving with non-standardised licence plates among others.
Twenty-four traffic personnel from the department were involved in the one-hour operation at the border in the morning and along Jalan Tengah Panaga in the afternoon. The operation was led by Head of Enforcement Officer Acting Superintendent Mohd Hadini Haji Othman.
The roadblock was the first in Belait District this year conducted by traffic police and personnel from Bandar Seri Begawan.
The roadblock was aimed at crime prevention, identification of car modifications, as well as to inspect vehicles suspected of transporting contraband goods. It was also conducted to curb road accidents and ensure that foreign-registered vehicles and local road users abide by the traffic rules and regulations.
