This photo taken by an eyewitness shows the wrecked vehicle.
An accident near Riverview Hotel along Jalan Gadong just past Thursday midnight claimed the life of a young Bruneian who was in the passenger seat of a blue Subaru WRX sports car.
According to the Royal Brunei Police Force, the 24-year-old victim, who was an employee of Brunei LNG, was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel from RIPAS Hospital at the scene.
Investigations are still ongoing, as the 23-year-old driver of the sports car is currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit of RIPAS Hospital for severe head injuries and trauma.
Initial reports suggest that the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle while speeding.
The police described the incident, which occurred around 12.15am, Friday, as a "self-accident".
The deceased was laid to rest yesterday morning.
