Foreign diplomatic officers and staff, Brunei Shell Tankers crew and students alike gathered to celebrate Hari Raya at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Tokyo, Japan.
They celebrated the 'day of victory', after fasting for a month from dawn to dusk. They celebrated with style - sporting their best traditional Malay costumes 'baju melayu' and 'baju kurong' - and the gathering made them feel much closer to home.
The students who attended the gathering came from different areas, namely Kanazawa, Hiroshima, Shibuya and Akihabara, whereas the Brunei Shell Tankers crew was coincidentally dry-docking their ship SS Bilis at Honmoku Yokohama Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Ship Yard.
The Brunei Shell Tankers crew had earlier celebrated Hari Raya onboard their ship, where the festivity brought together the different nationalities working on the ship - Bruneians, British, Indians, Croatian, Japanese and Philippines - bringing them closer and fostering closer ties amongst each other and creating a more harmonious community on the ship.
