Car is seen inside the restaurant.
Lunchtime patrons at a popular restaurant in Serusop received a crashing surprise yesterday afternoon when a car drove through its glass wall and ended up inside the restaurant.

According to eyewitness reports, a car was parked just in front of the restaurant, with the engine running idly as the owner left a small boy inside whilst he walked into the restaurant.

A few moments later, the car was seen moving, jumping over the parking kerb and smashing into the glass wall of the restaurant.

Lunchtime patrons seated inside the restaurant sat in shocked amazement as the car just continued to move closer towards them. It was not known how the car came to a complete stop.

Amazingly, none of the patrons or the child in the car were injured although one woman was visibly traumatised by the incident.

The Commanding Officer of the Berakas Police Station, ASP Pg Hj Salam, said that as the incident had only occurred yesterday, it is "still under investigation".

He went on to add that they are still collecting statements from the owner of the car and other witnesses and are still investigating how the parked car ended up inside the restaurant.

The police once again remind the public to take extra care when leaving children inside a car with the engine running.
