~ DaiJiRo's 180Sx ~
Built in collaboration with Nagata-san at Top Secret
and Okachan at Yashio Factory
this car is the brainchild of Daijiro Inada,
the father of D1, Option Magazine and Tokyo Auto Salon.
He wanted to create something unique, a car that would get noticed but most importantly one
that would be perfect for him to hone his drifting skills in.
As a result the base RPS13, or 180SX,
is now suffering from a serious identity crisis.
Up front it thinks its a 350Z with those unmistakable headlights...
While at the rear it is trying to look all mature with
a V35 Skyline (Infiniti G35) conversion.
The exterior work was taken care of by Top Secret,
who spiced up the looks with their Z33 carbon aero hood,
front bumper and a set of special custom fenders.
A lot of work went into fitting the headlights and making sure everything would align up properly.
Dai specially requested a quick release system for the front bumper, which now allows it to be taken off the car in a few seconds.
The rear fenders were custom made and required a
lot of attention as the actual widening starts from the door.
The V35 LED lights needed to fit into a much narrower
space so again it was far from easy.
To spice up the rear end further a Top Secret bumper was fitted.
You can see how the custom front fenders meet the
side skirts with Super GT inspired carbon louvers.
The Gram Lights 57SX-PRO are wrapped in Federal rubber.
If it wasn't for the unmistakable RPS13 glasshouse the Dee's Stream Z GT Jr. could really pass
for a 350Z from this angle.
The man himself.
Bumper off, of course, just in case something went wrong! In the opening shot with the bumper on it was actually Okachan driving, who was asked to provide copious amounts of smoke for the camera.
It's not all show however as you can probably gather by that chunky Yashio Factory exhaust system peeking out from under the bumper.
The SR20DET has received some serious tuning from Okachan, something the signature Yashio Factory pink gives away. Mounted on YF headers is an HKS GT-RS turbine providing
enough force feeding to get just under 400 PS.
430PS however are available with a simple flick
of the nitrous oxide button!
A pair of Recaro seats, racing bucked for Inada and reclining for the passenger, spice up the interior.
Interior gadget.
It's gadget heaven inside with toys ranging from an
HKS EVC boost controller to the YF Okachan water temperature meter. Let's not forget the all important can-coffee holder which keeps your brew cold in summer and hot in winter!
