Police at work during the operation.
Yesterday's roadblock at Jalan Beribi/Kiarong where police targeted traffic violaters.
The two-hour operation recorded 35 cases, of which 19 were summonses while the rest were issued with compounds. Offences included driving without licence, expired road tax and illegal modifications.
SM 1165 Samsuddin, Head of Traffic Enforcement Division said the operation was not only intended to halt unlawful road users but to raise awareness on driving safety.
"Public holidays are the time when most people carelessly disregard regulations, despite the consequences it may lead to," he said.
"We are not just having this operation in respect of the law, but ultimately to remind road users on the outcome of their mistakes. A person without a valid driving licence may not comprehend the full knowledge of operating a vehicle and that could lead to regrettable accidents."
