IN CONJUNCTION with the upcoming Hari Raya celebration, a road safety
campaign was held yesterday by the Brunei National Road Safety Council
to promote road safety awareness.
The campaign saw roadblocks taking place at strategic locations in
Brunei and the distribution of Hari Raya cards containing road safety
messages.
Three agencies were involved in the campaign namely Traffic Police
and Investigation Department, Belait Land Transport Department and
Belait District Office.

In Belait District, the roadblocks took place along Jalan Tengah
Seria where 250 Hari Raya cards and road safety pamphlets were
distributed to drivers.
The campaign was also held to support the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.
Leading the campaign yesterday was Assistant Belait District Officer, Pengiran Mohammad Jeffrynul Hafli bin Pengiran Haji Ali.
During the roadblock, five compound cases were issued with recorded
offences such as not displaying their road tax, driving with
non-standardised licence plate and tyres.
The drivers were issued fines on the spot and some were given minimum one week to settle the fines.
