A four-wheel drive vehicle caught fire yesterday along the Muara-Tutong highway, causing a massive traffic hold up but fortunately both the driver and passenger suffered no injuries.

The husband and wife from Tutong were on their way to Jerudong when the husband detected smoke coming from the hood of the car and decided to stop by the side of the road to check if the car had overheated.

According to the husband, as soon as he got out of the car, he saw the smoke was actually coming from the front right tyre and saw fire.

He immediately alerted his wife to get out of the car and follow him to a safe distance.

The car caught fire quickly, and the Fire and Rescue Department and the Royal Brunei Police Force were contacted immediately.

The team of six Fire and Rescue personnel controlled the blaze swiftly while RBPF personnel also arrived to control the traffic. Commuters had to wait for almost twenty minutes before the authorities confirmed it was safe to pass through.

According to a Fire and Rescue personnel at the scene, the cause of the mishap is still under investigation.

  1. It was really very surprising that the accident directly did not affect to both the members sitting in the car.Sometimes it hapens that the vehicles gets up heated due to lack of the water and the actual temperature.Ther may be some blessing with them that they have passed through the accident very safely without any type of personal injury as many times people get through many injuries from such accidents.Hence before going outside with a car you should always check of the vehicle fuly so as to avoid such types of accidents.Again each and every citizen should take some or the other types of insurance so that at some times of accidents like this which could not be your fault we can get for the accident claiming to get the incurred expenses .
