Two separate accidents occurred on Sunday night along Jalan Kumbang Pasang near the capital. In all, the accidents saw the involvement of four cars and kept emergency services personnel busy as they responded to both accidents.

The first accident occurred near the Municipal Department Building at around 9.50pm. According to an eyewitness, the accident occurred when a saloon car crashed into the road barrier.

Upon seeing the accident, two other cars slowed down as they approached the first car, but the saloon car made a surprise manoeuvre and sped away from the scene. The runaway car left behind its front bumper, which caused one of the other two cars to bump into each other.

The eyewitness added that the one of the passengers in one of the two cars was rushed to hospital for further checkup.

Police personnel from the Bandar Seri Begawan Police Station were at the scene to control the situation.

Just under an hour later, another accident occurred along the same road, this time in front of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Headquarters.

In the accident which occurred around 10.45pm, a saloon car which was carrying some of the people who were involved in the first accident was travelling at normal speed behind a police patrol car when a third car in which a group of teenagers was travelling sped up from behind and bumped into the saloon car, said an eyewitness who was also one of the victims of the earlier accident.

The impact of the accident not only badly damaged both cars but also damaged the roadside flowers and a nearby concrete drain.
"I was driving my siblings who just got involved in the first accident when suddenly the car driven by the teenagers sped up behind us and crashed," said the witness. "Luckily we were able to avoid from crashing into the police car in front us."

The eyewitness added that immediately after the crash, the teenagers managed to free themselves from their car and attempted to flee the scene, but were quickly apprehended by the BSB police and the Royal Police Guard who were patrolling the area at the time.

A team of paramedics from the RIPAS Hospital EMAS team arrived at the scene, and the teenagers were referred to the hospital for further checkup.
