More roadblock operations were conducted on Brunei roads by the enforcement agencies to make the roads safer amid the recent alarming rate of accidents and fatalities.
On Thursday night, another operation codenamed 'Ops Tegas' was conducted by two agencies namely the Traffic Investigation and Control Department and the Land Transport Department.
Offences detected during the operations along Jalan Jerudong, (in front of the Jerudong Fire Station) and the Terunjing link road (connecting Rimba and Kg Lambak) include installing modified lights, expired road taxes, driving without car insurance and driving without a licence.
Other offences recorded were car modifications, no brake lights and driving without proper permit to drive. The ongoing operations were conducted by a team of 48 personnel led by Inspector Pg Hj Md Aminol Sarni and Sergeant Major Samsuddin bin Hj Bidin from the Traffic Investigation and Control Department.
Meanwhile, the Land Transport Department team of seven personnel was led by the Head of Enforcement, Awg Baha and Pg Kamaluddin. Sixty road violations were recorded and 32 drivers were compounded, while 19 docket offences were reported.
The Land Transport Department detected nine compound cases.
