Police officers inspecting a truck during the roadblock.
Twelve motorists were issued with compound fines and summons for court appearance in an operation by
the Traffic Police in Kuala Belait on Thursday evening. The roadblock was set up near the Rasau Toll booth
to check vehicles coming in from Sungai Tujoh Control Post for traffic violations and contraband.
The roadblock was a continuation of 'Operation Tegas'. Twenty Traffic Police officers manned the
roadblock.
Out of the summons issued, five motorists were found driving with an expired road tax while one motorist
was caught driving without a proper licence. A motorist was also summoned to court for illegally
"lowering" his vehicle.
The other 11 compound cases involved motorists carrying out illegal modifications and driving with
vehicles which were deemed not roadworthy.
The police roadblock, held from 8pm to 10pm on Thursday, was carried out not only to enforce the traffic
laws but also aimed to reduce road accidents.
