The fire was believed to have been caused by loose wiring in the car battery, the Fire and Rescue Department said, adding that total loss was estimated to be around $7,000.
It caused a traffic jam to and from the Hassanal Bollkiah Highway as curious onlookers slowed down their vehicles.
The Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call at 2.26pm and six personnel from Beribi rushed in a fire engine to the scene.
Traffic police were also seen monitoring the traffic flow. No one was injured.
