The gravel road.
The car after swerving into the bush.
According to the police, the gravel was scattered along a one-metre stretch of the road after a truck carrying a large amount of gravel had reportedly spilled it.
Although police had kept cones to warn road users to watch their speed, a self-accident occurred at 3pm yesterday.
The saloon car reportedly skidded off the road, swerved and landed in the bush.
The driver told the Borneo Bulletin that he was on his way to Seria when a car from the opposite direction overtook and encroached on his lane. As he attempted to avoid collision, his vehicle skidded because of the heap of gravel on the road.
The police said the Public Works Department was contacted to clear the gravel on the road.
