A Land Transport personnel queries a bus driver.

Two bus drivers have been ordered to re-sit for their highway code examination as well as attend a briefing on traffic regulations to retain their driving licences after both were found to have allegedly committed numerous road traffic offences.

The stern action taken by the Land Transport Department was to safeguard public safety especially the bus passengers and other road users.

Senior Enforcement Officer Hj Suaib urged all public service vehicle drivers, especially foreigners, to comply with traffic rules and regulations and be mindful of other road users. He also warned that the department will not hesitate to take action on road offenders if they commit offences.

In an effort to further ensure that commercial vehicles, especially public services vehicles, comply with the rules and regulations, the Land Transport Department once again conducted an operation along Jln Tutong yesterday morning.

Led by Enforcement Officer Awang Kamaluddin bin Hj Mohd Sum, a total of eight officers took part in the operation whereby 57 commercial vehicles were inspected.

During the operation, 15 vehicles were pulled up and 17 compounds were issued. Some of the vehicles have to be re-inspected at the inspection centre at the Land Transport Department.

During the operation, a public service bus was caught overloaded with passengers. Such actions can be dangerous for the passengers. The passengers were ordered to take a ride on another bus.
