Land Transport officer conducts an inspection on a commercial vehicle.
A total of 52 and 59 cases respectively were reported, according to statistics revealed by the police recently. Meanwhile, speeding under section 24 (1) RTA Chapter 68 topped the list of compound offences, which recorded a total of 173 cases for the same month.
These were followed by 87 cases of compound offence of U-Turns at 'No U-Turn' areas and 79 cases against red lights under section 37 (1)(B) RTE 1954.
Overall, there were a total of 241 summons and 536 compound cases for various traffic offences recorded throughout police stations nationwide as of January 2011.
The traffic police in collaboration with the Land Transport Department will conduct a three-month long road safety operation to ensure motorists adhere to the traffic rules and regulations for the safety of all.

Driving vehicles without valid insurance protection under section 3 (1) TPR Chapter 90 and not wearing safety belts under U/R 8 (1) MVR (1988) RTA Chapter 68 topped the list of summoned cases recorded by the Department of Investigation and Traffic Control Unit in the month of January 2011.
